On Saturday August 7th Flamboyant Talent held it’s 4TH Annual back to school drive at Middle River park formerly known as the “East Side park”. This annual event is held every year to give back to the community in which the founder of Flamboyant Talent, JoJo, grew up in.
The day was filled with rekindling of friends, games, food, music and so much more. The event started off with neighborhood family and friends coming by to check out what was happening at the park, being drawn in by the music that was being played. Parents brought their kids to play in the bounce house and on the playground as event started to jump off. As the kids were having fun, we had chef Sony from Lully’s Catering on the grill cooking up hotdogs and those crunchy crinkly fries for everyone to enjoy. And I must say those hotdogs were so delicious that they had everyone going back for seconds. Rapper Sam1kayy, who is also from the east side came by with his family to support our back-to-school drive. Chef Tica who was one of our sponsors along with Nikita, came out to assist with our back to school give away, passing out backpacks and school supplies to the kids.
While the kids were having fun playing around and parents were enjoying a little rest and relaxation in the nice Florida heat, we began to line the kids up to pick up their back-to-school items and backpacks. Due to COVID everything was already placed in the bags for the kids to keep our future kids safe. In the back packs each child found a pack of paper, folders, binders, pencils, pens, hole punchers, glue, markers, crayons, colored pencils, erasers, and much more.
With having so many items to give away and it being very hot there were some people who did not want to come out, so we took it upon ourselves to go door to door in the community to give away the rest of the backpacks filled with back-to-school items to those who had school aged kids. By doing this small gesture and act of kindness, the families that we meet at their doors to give their children backpacks were filled with joy and happiness and were very grateful for us and the items that we delivered.
Flamboyant Talent is not only about promoting upcoming artist, community leaders, businesses and alike, we are also big on giving back to our community. So, stay tuned, for our next back to school drive as we continue to be Flamboyantly Fly and give back to our community.
